Super Natural

SUPER NATURAL is my latest book and is a celebration of beautiful, plant-based food. I loved every minute of writing it and being inspired by how miraculous and wonderful the bounty of nature really is. Following on from my previous book, Wholesome, I hope that this will be a companion in the kitchen for eating more close-to-the-earth and carefully grown, seasonal plant-based food that’s full of goodness and which nourishes our bodies and minds.

Having travelled my own healthy eating journey over the last few years, I’ve realised that vegetables are the real unsung heroes of our kitchens, and it’s been a joy to create recipes that celebrate their diversity, as well as their ability to nourish us.

There are countless reasons why we should be eating a little less meat, and a lot more veggies, both for our own health and that of the planet, and as I’m exploring this way of eating more and more with my family, I know that my body definitely prefers it. And although my diet isn’t exclusively plant based, I’m edging closer all the time, so you could call this ‘the flexitarian’s guide to vegetarianism’ if you like. Whichever way you look at it, Michael Pollan, one of my favourite food thinkers and writers, says it perfectly simply: ‘Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.’

10 Day Veggie Reset Programme (eBook)

We've carefully created this 'Veggie Reset' to walk you through a simple celebration of plant-based eating that frees you from some of the trappings of processed and ‘unkind’ foods, and that gives you tools, guidelines, shopping lists, meal plans and recipes that will leave you feeling like the best version of yourself.

‘The Veggie Reset’ isn’t about a complete body transformation or a quick fix solution to symptoms and health concerns within 10 days. It’s about a mind-shift towards wholesome eating that focuses on getting more veggies and plant-based goodness on our plates and that promotes health and vitality. This is not a detox programme, and it’s not about deprivation, calorie counting or scales. It’s a ‘kind programme’ with clear-cut guidelines on how to add in more goodness in a practical and do-able manner.

Wholesome

I spent months researching and writing my latest book, and I can’t believe that it's finally here. WHOLESOME hit shelves in April 2017 and is filled with 100 nourishing sugar, gluten and carb-conscious recipes for eating well.

For me, this book is about putting goodness in, and getting goodness out. It’s about food that is conscious of refined sugars and refined carbohydrates, and that nourishes our minds and our bodies, but is still full of colour and character, and fits within the context of our busy lives. These are my favourite beautiful, simple, wholesome recipes that are made for sharing around full and merry tables.

The book has already been featured in Food & Home Magazine, Women's Health, Woman & Home Magazine, Elle Magazine and many other publications. You can read more via the link below.

Home

This book is about warm hearts, full tables, empty plates. Family, friends and feasting. It also has an African flavour that I love, and I feel stupidly lucky that Home was nominated in the prestigious International Gourmand Cookbook Awards as best in the African cuisine category.

Within the standard cookbook format of Brunch, Salads, Soups, Snacks, Meat, Poultry, Pasta, Seafood, Desserts and Baking, there is food that is simple but beautiful, delicious and healthy. Most of the dishes can be prepared as easily outdoors as in your kitchen, and the recipes will work for family meals as well as casual dining with friends.

Traditional South African favourites are given a modern makeover and readers are introduced to some less-familiar dishes from Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.

Smitten

I like to think of Smitten as a slightly older and wiser sibling to my first book, Bitten. A little more grown up and sophisticated, but without being complicated or stuck-up. A little magical but still practical.

To make our busy lives easier, the recipes in Smitten are conveniently divided into categories such as Nibbles, Speedy Suppers, Feast and Slow. Whether looking to knock up a quick dish on a week night or feed a party of eight on a lazy Sunday afternoon, there is something here for everyone.

The book shares recipes that give the context, inspiration and passion behind each dish as well, capturing Sarah’s philosophy that every meal has a story. There are handy hints for the novice and reluctant cook, cooking and baking tips, and kitchen and baking starter kits. Also included is a useful Meals for a Month guide that takes the guesswork out of the eternal question ‘What should I cook tonight?’ Each dish is complemented with a wine suggestion to help round off the perfect meal.

Bitten

Bitten was my very first book. For that reason, and many others, it's very dear to my heart. Also, after almost two years, it's now back in stock.

This is how the official description on the publisher’s website reads:

“Bitten is a fun, funky, relevant recipe book for people who love life, love food, love their friends, and love to squeeze the last drop from their time and money. It is a collection of simple, down-to-earth and healthy, no-mess-no-fuss recipes that almost anyone can cook. A companion of convenience, the blog-themed writing style ensures that the writer/reader relationship is established right off the bat.”

Bitten is a quirky cross between a food memoir and a cookbook with un-intimidating recipes. Besides delicious dishes, Bitten features handy hints for the novice and reluctant cook, cooking and baking tips, and kitchen and baking starter kits. Also included is a useful 'Meals for a Month' guide that takes the guesswork out of the eternal question: ‘What should I cook tonight?’ Each dish in this nifty guide is complemented with a wine suggestion to help round off the perfect meal.

21 Day Body Reset Programme (eBook)

Over the years we’ve come to realise that most people want to live a healthier life, but don’t really know where to start, or are overwhelmed at the potential expense and effort.

We’ve carefully created this programme to walk you through a simple ‘Body Reset’ that frees you from some of the trappings of processed and ‘unkind’ foods, and that gives you tools, guidelines, shopping lists, meal plans and recipes that will leave you feeling like the best version of yourself.

‘Body reset’ isn’t about a complete body transformation or a quick fix solution to symptoms and health concerns within 21 days. It’s about a mind-shift towards wholesome eating that will promote health and vitality.

This is not a detox programme, and it’s not about deprivation, calorie counting or scales. It’s a ‘kind programme’ with clear-cut guidelines on how to substitute some of the junk with goodness in a practical and do-able manner.

We designed the 21-day reset as 3 weeks of 5-day plans. So you complete your 5-days as you like (consecutively or not), then on the weekends you can choose your favourite recipes. Continue this format for the next 2 weeks.
