Happy New Year!

happy-new-year-2014

I always find myself feeling a little dazed and mildly confused in the wake of the rush that is so often Christmas and New Year, and I’m guessing I’m not the only one. It always fascinates me how we spend weeks and months planning Christmas holidays, preparing, cooking, shopping, and then in the blink of an eye it’s gone, done, over til next year, thanks for coming.

I always like to look back at the highlights of the year, and ahead to the breathtaking blank canvas that lies ahead, and wonder at how we’ll fill it, what colours will make it come alive, what happenings and memories will make their mark.

2013 was pretty eventful for A Foodie Lives Here. It was dominated by filming and releasing Season 1 of #bittenTV with ‘Sarah Graham Cooks Cape Town‘ and the veritable whirlwind that that entailed; a Gourmand Awards Nomination for my first cookbook ‘bitten’ which earned a spot on the finalists list; the final writing, recipe testing and photo shooting for my second book ‘smitten.’ which is due out in stores in SA in February this year, and later on Amazon.com and .co.uk. I also had loads of fun developing and shooting an online baking course ‘The Art of Baking‘ with the awesome team over at Yuppiechef. I spent a couple of crazy mornings with the 5FM gang in studio, wrote a few articles for YOU magazine online and ended the year with a shoot for Food & Home Magazine which you’ll be able to find in their March issue.

Rob, Sophie and I have just had a very happy beach and bush holiday which we loved, and now we’re ready to dive headfirst into 2014 and all the adventures that lie ahead. First up will be the release of my second book ‘smitten.’ in February, and then the much anticipated arrival of Sophie’s baby sister in March. And we’ll just catch our breath and then head into shooting Season 2 of my cooking show ‘Sarah’s Food Safari’ in June/July. Exciting times!

So, friends, I hope you all had Happy New Years, and that you’re ready to take on 2014 with merry abandon. May it be kind to you. Thank you for visiting when you do, I’m looking forward to sharing more food fun with you all this year.
