I Went Baking Mad with Yuppiechef

Earlier this week, our friends over at Yuppiechef (South Africa’s most well-loved online kitchen kit company) launched their exciting new online course ‘The Art of Baking’ which I was lucky enough to develop for them, and then host in a series of 6 chapters, each in one comprehensive and easy-to-follow video. The amazing part is that the course is free (!), a generous gift from Yuppiechef to their customers, no strings attached, and even includes all kinds of helpful tips and tricks, quizzes and troubleshooting guides. Just one more reason why I think they’re pretty amazing.

Here’s a sneak peek via their little ‘Art of Baking’ Preview Video

And because we had so much putting the course together and making the videos, I thought I’d share a few behind-the-scenes snippets and snapshots of all the merriment and chaos with you…

After collaborating with Yuppiechef’s duo of creative genuis, Tim and Ali, and then working for a couple of months on the concept, course material, recipes and video scripts, we were ready to start filming in June at the gorgeous Yuppiechef HQ in Cape Town.

Typical blustery weather ensued, but that didn’t matter as we were on the job in their studio kitchen from 6am until about 6pm for a solid 3 days. Time flew, and we got to eat loads of cake (!), had the most phenomenal crew (many of who I was also lucky enough to work with on the #bittenTV set in March and April – you can read all my behind-the-scenes posts from filming the TV show right here), and were headed by our brilliant Director, Chris Lotz; with Luisa Farelo never missing a beat (as usual) as our incredible food stylist, conjuring up all manner of prettiness on the sidelines and in the still shots for the course material.

If you haven’t checked out the course yet, I really think you should (all bias aside of course) – we put a lot of effort into making sure that it would be relevant to both the nervous novice baker, as well as the confident home cook, and so I hope you’ll have fun browsing through the materials and watching the videos. Let me know what you think!
