In The Kitchen with Top Billing

IMG_5051
A few weeks ago, I found myself packing my pots and pans, trusty Kenwood mixer, spoons and knives and all manner of other kitchen paraphernalia (and my precious cousin Katherine who was my invaluable assistant for the day) and heading off to a house in Houghton. And when I say house, I mean work of art really, because to its owners (of Essential Life fame and beauty), that is exactly what it is.

And speaking of beauty and fame – enter the ridiculously beautiful Lerato Kganyago. This was the glamorous setting for a days shooting with the Top Billing team. The order of the day was to cook for Lerato, esteemed host of SABC1’s The Link, and all round lovely TV personality.

My mission? To prepare a celeb-worthy feast and hope she liked it. (Eek).

Here’s what we ate
Wild Mushroom Soup with Truffle Cream (she asked for the recipe so that couldn’t have been to bad now could it?)
Indian-style Coconut Seafood Curry
Spiced Pear Gelato

I’ll post the recipes on the blog soon.

In the mean time, you can find out how it all went down tonight on SABC3 at 8.30pm on Top Billing. And just to set your tastebuds tingling, here’s a little sneak peek.

And huge thanks to
The legendary TB team for inviting me to join them and being such fun to work with
To Lerato for being so easy to prepare a feast for, and for so willingly trying everything
To Adrian and Michael for so gallantly hosting us for the day
And to Kath for being the best sous chef a girl could ask for.
