The Only Brownie Recipe You’ll Ever Need

Oh joy. I’m SO JOLLY EXCITED to share this recipe with you. AND, they pass the Isla taste-test, which, if you know anything about our sweetest middle child, means a whole heck of a lot. Make them soon!

Ingredients

Cooks in:        Serves:Makes 16

  • 2 cups tightly packed dates, pitted and soaked in warm water for a few minutes to soften
  • 1 tin black beans, drained
  • 1/2 cup nut butter or peanut butter
  • ¼ cup oil or melted butter
  • 1/3 cup raw cacao
  • 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup roughly chopped raw pecan nuts

What to do

1. Preheat oven to 180°C and line a 20cm x 20cm square baking tin with baking paper

2. Add dates and beans to a food processor and blitz until smooth, add in the remaining ingredients and blend again, adding a little extra hot water if necessary to help the machine along.

3. Transfer the mixture to your baking tin and bake for 20 minutes, or until just set and smelling delicious.

4. Leave to cool in the tin for a few minutes before cutting into squares and serving. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 or 3 days, or freeze for later use.
