Besides beautiful ingredients to work with we absolutely, totally could not have made the food that we made, and made it so effortlessly, without our trusty DEFY appliances. And believe me, these guys worked hard – they were carted and carried thousands of kilometers, crossed rivers and borders and bush and desert, and they did exactly what we needed them to do, every time.

They’re also so much more than just ‘appliances’ to so many of us. They’re an institution in our homes in South Africa, and even in Zimbabwe, where I grew up (and much further afield than that) – many first cakes have been baked in Defy stoves, small faces peering through the oven glass to watch as it rises. They were partners in making special birthday treats, slow cooked wintery strews and soups, and, in my case, armies of small meringues that my Mother would make whenever there was reason to feast and celebrate. I couldn’t be happier that we had them on the road with us for our second season, reliable kitchen companions on an amazing memory-making adventure. Thank you enormously Defy SA for joining our #SarahFoodSafari journey.
