Chocolate Overnight Oats

I wrote a bit more about why Raw Cacao is the bee’s knees in this recent blog post, and I see no reason to get off the chocolate bandwagon anytime soon. SO, without further ado, here’s our favourite Chocolatey Overnight Oats – it’s refined sugar and can be dairy free, and it’s the perfect make-ahead breakfast come rain or shine. The recipe can easily be doubled, and you can make jars for up to 3 days in advance which is a major win. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Cooks in:        Serves:1

  • 1/4 cup raw oats (or up to 1/3 cup for a bigger portion)
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 Tbsp flax seeds
  • 1 Tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 1 heaped tsp raw cacao
  • 1 tsp raw honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract or paste
  • Pinch of salt and cinnamon
  • 1/2 grated apple or sliced banana
  • Small handful chopped raw nuts, for topping
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup milk of your choice (almond, rice milk, coconut or cow's milk)

What to do

1. Layer the dry ingredients into a medium-sized glass jar and mix well.

2. Add in the fruit and mix gently, then add in the chopped nuts.

3. Pour in the warm water and milk, put the lid on and place in the fridge overnight. You can then transfer the ingredients to a bowl the next morning and add extra liquid if necessary. Alternatively, eat greedily straight out of the jar, again adding in extra liquid if desired.
